I come out the house this morning and notice a scratch on drivers side rear wheel well almost 2 inch long and as wide as your little finger and have no idea how it got there

Was the scratch on the wheel or the wheel well on the body of the car?

Well at least your wheels weren't stolen. (off topic but related) I had my car broken into last year then the thief ran off with my work laptop and scratched up my driver door

Sorry to hear that Mike....Last night I thought I was going to have an issue too. from by bathroom window I saw some guy walking up and down my block and each time he would stop at my house look at the car and walk back. I watched him do this for about 10 mins. I thought I was going to have to go "Texas" on him (shoot and then call 911) but by the time I got outside to see what was going on with him he was gone.

My car also has a scratch from an unknown source and every time I look at the car I see it first!
