What did you want to be when you grew up?

As the subject ask:
What did/ do you want to be when you grow up?

Hmm Have to grow up first. Any who, wanted to prove to my dad I could succeed. Proved that by completing 20 years in army aviation, then continuing to show him by supporting the military as a contractor.

I never had a specific career I wanted to pursue.

Wanted to be half the man my grandfather was, and know as much as he did about everything. While mechanic career wasn't my main concern, it was something that fit in line with my goal above.

I wanted to do get a mechanical engineering degree and be an officer in the Navy.
Although I decided to attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy as opposed to the U.S. Naval Academy (because I needed distance), I still got the degree and at least am in the Navy Reserves so I did accomplish my goals.

I never really had a specific career in mind while I was in school other than graduating high school and getting a job making money! I've never been one to just like sitting at some desk all day as I am a physical kind of person. I can say that I have never had a "desk job" after working for the past 23 years Soon after graduating high school, I did take an auto body class as I thought I may enjoy that, but I quickly got bored and never pursued it.

I'm currently working on year 15 at my current job and it also pays fairly well for what little bit of "work" I actually have to do ...I just need to survive the remaining 17 years until I can retire with full benefits

I always wanted to own my own truck and haul loads across the country. For some reason the open road was calling and still is. But as life goes I ended up in health care. 11 year, first on the clinical side then on the business side. Looking back I have no regrets but one day I still want to own a big rig.

Will it be your retirement job?

not that many independant truckers out there these days so I am not sure. But what the hell, it will be my retirement job so I wont care if I make any money or not.......Hey Mike, we can do a updated Smokey and the Bandit run just to get beer. I am sure we can go from Atlanta to Texarkana and back to Atlanta in 28 hours. Actually I think we can cut that in half. ........I don't plan on retirement for another 20+ years so you have time to think about it...lol

I wanted to be an Medical Officer in the USMC. (...then I busted my knee, got discharged, got married, and got into sales.) But I've fixed it, and now I'm only 5 years way to being a doc (definitely) in the US Navy (maybe).

i wanted to join the air force and i did. 6 years of active duty and now i have over 6 years as a police officer. only 13 and some change until retire day from that job!!!!!
