Nothing like driving at 1am

Post by TT_05_Stang on Mon Jul 18, 2011 10:41 am

Its true... Mike and I finally worked out all the bugs...

I drove almost 180 miles last night... just couldnt make myself come home... was so peaceful, and once in a while I had to beat the raped ape... (well, I didnt do any WOT) wanted to make sure I was close to home for that.

After a couple cold side couplers blew off, and fixing them on the side of the road , I decided to head back to the house. About a mile away from the house I decide its time to do a WOT blast. First, felt amazing, second was outstanding, everything was looking perfect, A/F was a rock solid 10.8 fat and happy... third... felt good until I dropped 4 cylinders ...

seems the year + old gas wasnt up to the snuff...

Checked compression, and everything is fine, just 4 broken porcelain due to detonation. The old tuner put HT1's which are going to contribute to this as well. HT0's go in tonight... and have not decided whether to run out the tank of gas, or pump it out...

All in all a very successful evening, and a fun one at that... Messed around with a C6 ZO6 and put 3 cars on him 3/4 throttle...

Cya guys this weekend at the dyno day... Fingers crossed that I wont break something before then Smile

Yeah, figure I will pump it down to 1/8 of a tank... guess I will have plenty of fuel for grass cutting for a while...

Mike has some vid of first movement Smile

I was so excited to hear it running again and on all 8 cylinders, even more excited when there were no more coolant leaks and nearly wet myself when I heard it was boosting again although I had left for the night when he got the boost controller programmed.

Don't worry, Will, I'll siphon your gas. It's gotta be good enough to use in my truck. lol.

Can't wait to see that beast on the road again. The last time I saw her on the road was at the cotoctin mountain cruise maybe 2-3 years ago.
