Hey folks!

Post by etc1006 on Sun May 01, 2011 3:41 pm

Hi, I'm Eric. I met a couple of you folks at the Cheeburger-Cheeburger. I've been a member of MCM for a few months also. I have a 93 2.3 DD, and an 85 SVO. It was the badly sunburnt grey one at lunch. I look forward to hanging out more often!

Hey Eric, I was next to you at the window with Laura. Here's the now long gone SVO I told you about. Long live the 2.3l turbo:

and here it is after catching fire with my son at the wheel at Summit Raceway:

SVO's are fun... takes so little to get them to 400rwhp... then internals need upgraded...

The 87-93 octane switch was killer back in the day Smile

Yep, JZLeach was the prior owner. We had two dashes, one came from Connecticut I think. Lots of parts may still be in his shed, you might want to ping him. Prior to getting sold, Zach had put in a rebuilt SVO engine that came out of a car that was at a body shop for repairs, and the guy never came by to pick up the car. He had it back up and running. I think the front clip needed some work, and the dash.

Some guy from PA answered the Craig's list ad, and that was that. Zach should have the name...

Yeah, mine is a work in progress. A LOOONG work in progress, as I'm on workers comp still waiting on decisions to be made as far as school/settlement/disability rating. Been a long 2 1/2 years since I got hurt. Gonna be along next few whenever I get to go back to school... I'm just doing what I can to it. Cleaning, some interior work, painting stuff. I really need to do something sbout the roof and top areas though first. It's from AZ and the repaints are cracked to hell (original black, then maroon, then grey). And from this past winter you can see some surface rust in the cracks... But hey, for a $250 complete(the right front marker is worth more), running (barely when i got it) it is what it is, a rare car saved from being parted out/crushed. I think I have a little over 2k in in it after getting it shipped and up to snuff running and the 02 wheels and tires (cheaper than $400 for new skins at the time). I'm still working on my "circle of trust" for driving it. I need to roll the quarter panel lips as the 02 wheels are 7.5" wide and have 225/55 tires, where the stock are 7" w/ 225/50... I get a bit of rub when i back in the driveway....

Yeah I PM'd him on the dash when I saw he was unloading the extra stuff. I think he still has it. Mine has a crack from when the head unit got stolen out of it... I do need to touch base with him on it again as it's been a few weeks/month or so... IIRC he got the dash because the car was a dealer added AC, and the ducting or something was funky vs. the factory AC, and the dash I had was factory AC.
