Getting 4.10 gears installed

Post by n2onme on Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:21 pm

I dropped my car off at Bob's shop tonight to get my FRPP 4.10 gears installed tomorrow. I can't wait to get the car back and see how they change the car.

If I change to 410's do i need a new tune? Also is it worth it with the hopes of supercharging later. I have 3:55's right now. Thanks for your input

Great News! Bob I need to hit you up and make an appointment. I have the 3.73's sitting in the garage along with the Install and bearing kit.

You don't need a new tune. There should be a way to adjust the gear ratio on the handheld device. I have an SCT Xcal2. As for supercharging and gear ratio, I have heard all sorts of answers to that. I have mostly heard that if you are getting a Positive displacement blower(Kenne Bell, whipple, Saleen, etc) then 3.55 are fine because the 4.10 make 1st gear very short, but if you are going centrifugal(Procharger, Paxton, Vortech) then the lower gears(higher number like 4.10) are better to help you get to the powerband faster. I think Mike has 4.10 with his Saleen Blower, maybe ask him how he likes it. You can always check out s197forum.com and use the search to look for what people on that board have. Hopefully that was helpful.

The 4.10 gears are great. Thanks Bob for doing the install! Great guy and he does excellent work. Bob made sure everything was perfect. I don't hear any whine from the rear of the car. Thanks again Bob.

Yes, I have Saleen S/C and 4.10's. It is a beast to handle but I enjoy the insane aggressiveness of it. I can easily see how many people would not be fond of it though.
You are more than welcome to drive my car if you want.
Enjoy the gears
