Re: Shelby GT 500 vs. Cobra SVT
displacement will always edge out, if money is no object...
5.4 > 4.6
5.4 > 4.6

5.4 > 4.6
Could be a 5.0 Cobra, or a 5.8 Cobra...

Re: Shelby GT 500 vs. Cobra SVT
Forgot about the 95 bastard year...
Then its a pushrod against OHC design... which seems to give the edge to the OHC design...
Why the F are we talking in a year old thread????

I gotta give it to the cobra for a better built engine, but I agree that the 5.4 will eventually win money no object.

Re: Shelby GT 500 vs. Cobra SVT
Its too close of a match up. And with money being no object makes it even harder.
Say 10k push rod VS OHC 2,3 or 4v which is faster?
my vote would be pushrod, they are in my experience cheaper and easier to build

Re: Shelby GT 500 vs. Cobra SVT
This arguement has WAY too many variables.
However... same cubic inch its abuot two things...
1. which one can get more air into the engine(vacuum pump)
2. rotational weight, and how close that is to the centerline.
I am searching for a vid from VTEngines that had a destroked 5.4 in a fox notch and it was pulling low 10's.
I don't remember seeing a 331 being able to pull those times, but I could be wrong.
The thing is a 2v wont flow as much as a 4v, and thats where #1 comes into play.

My buddy is at 10.6s at 3300lbs and im not far behind him just need to stop breaking trannys. My build is nothng crazy off the shelf parts, small cam and a 5spd. I personally have yet to see many fast NA OHC cars. Not saying they dont exist, but i just havent seen them.
