A new direction Theme Oriented

Post by vack on Tue Aug 31, 2010 1:33 am

Starting to see too many cars like mine on the road......so, might change it up a bit. If enough people don't like it, I'll probably do it. The Don't is not a typo.

Thinking of going from a Base GT 350 Theme to a 350R Theme full with Number and Sponsor Decals, to tribute an original 350R but not copy. So thinking of a Tri Bar Single Stripe down the middle Red White Blue. And use some choice old school sponsor decals and numbering from the pictures below.

Like your current setup better but the 350R look would be diff and still look sharp...

I think it would be cool as long as you are willing to go most of the way. Upgrading the suspension and pushing the car closer to what a gt350R was. If you just go the decal way it might be a little hoky.

Already have a full Ford Racing Suspension, the only stock suspension pieces on my car is the front A arms. =). I'd probably be willing to go as far as putting in a Cage and Race seats. And getting my exhaust dumped out the side too. But I won't gut the interior and stuff like that.

This is the car that got me thinking.

I love the theme but not sure I'd want that on a daily driver...

When I said suspension work I meant going all the way with it. Like a full Maximum Motorsports kit. And big brake kit. trust me you can say there is nothing stock left on your suspension and it not true. Ford racing suspension kits usually only consist of sway bars, springs, struts and shocks. Its a basic starter kit.

As for the decals don't go stupid with them or you will turn your car into a ricer mustang. The decals should be period correct. like what parts we use today not back then. Use smaller ones. So as not to be to gaudy back to the ricer thing.

If your going the full GT350R way. Start bulding towards what the kid racer mustang is. Because in essence thats what the gt350R was. And by god do not gut your interior. Just lighten it up a little. By the way custom rollcage are not cheap by any means. Steel you might spend atleast minimum 1500 or with chromoly 2300. Just food for thought.

Thanks for the Tips, you'll have to trust me when I say I do my homework when I have a project in front of me, if I think it's going to be stupid it won't happen ;p

Tis why I think the first step will be to stick with the stripes getting painted in the current color and drop the Tri Bar for now, and I'll buy 2 sets of Decals, which are cheap, and then buy me some of that Magnet paper, then I'll put one set of Decals on the Magnet paper, and put them on as I see fit, and we'll go from there, that way if it's ghey sauce, then I have some cool garage and tool box decorations, and the ones there were going to on the car (The second set) go on ebay, looks like an eventful winter!! I'll keep peeps posted.

I like the idea of the racing racing suspension, oh and all the other parts are CHE parts, so essentially there is only the stock A Arms left, but the goal is not to actually race, competitively, but to tribute that, and maybe do some track days at beaver. After all I do drive this car put 2500 miles on it so far this year, haha. And I like my kidneys.

But we'll see, I sketching some ideas up as we speak, and searching for actual cars that ran the circuit that I like. That #20 has my interest peaked, but the red, on the sides and roof, that's a big step. So we'll see.

Keep posted for updates throughout the winter.

This will be an awesome project that I would love to watch. That ebay ad you posted was an awesome replica. I'm not a fan of black and gold but I wouldn't mind owning one of those
