Well yea, 2.73's are not exactly built for drag racing.

Depends, NA, SC, yes you are correct, Turbo loves the 2.73's

He should pick up .5 at minimum with 4.10's most likely a sub 12 pass.

Yea, we'll have to see, it will definately be towards the low 12s. With the 2.73s he just cannot stay in the heavy power range on his F cam, which is 4000 - 6000. Still makes fair power when it dips into 3000 but not enough.

To and from the track, yes-- thats the plan, with the occasional weekend driving around the neighborhood pissing people off

Haha, sounds fun but not my style. I like driving mine 65 miles to shows and back on 1 tank of gas and it being reliable.

Some updated pics.

My timing chain cover, that i repainted ford blue and a sneak preview at my valve covers.

My 88 GT went 12.30's@ 108-109 many years ago with:

GT-40 intake (a real one, lol)
F-303 cam
70mm TB
AFPR
4.10s
O/R H-pipe
Flowmaster catback
Pulleys
March ram air
big and little weld wheels
M/T ET Streets
Tremec TR-3550 trans
1.6 roller rockers
MSD ignition

Stock heads
Stock headers
Stock suspension minus front sway bar
Stock axles
Stock driveshaft
All stock body panels (no fiberglass hood)
Full interior

Daily driven, still speed density, no tuning other than timing and fuel pressure adjustments.

Thats my ideal mustang going fast with less, reliable and daily driven. wow i didnt know it was still a speed density car with that cam. always heard people saying it'll never work cause of no vacuum

Yeah man, it was fun! People at Capitol used to swear i was spraying it, that the heads were worked, etc. This was back in the late 90's early 00's when the F cam first came out...lol. The car idled decently with some fine tuning of the timing and FP, def ran good though, especially considering it had 110,000 miles on it when I bought it and started modding.

Haha nice. i remember when they came out i was in high school starting to mess with these cars. and i used to avoid speed density cars cause i didnt feel like converting it to mass air. wouldnt mind having an 87 or 88 in good shape. did you tune it with your Anderson PMS at the time or was it later?

Nope, the PMS has only been on the LX. I didnt do any computer tuning on the GT, just manual fuel pressure and timing adjustments. Then the GT went carb when it went NMRA P/S racing.

Another update, she will be running tommorow "hopefully" if we work hard enough.

"PLEASE": Do not comment on how dirty my engine bay is right now.. only "temporary"

This has been a good experience so far and I just hope the finishing product was worth all the blood, sweat and tears that me and my father put into it.

Got alot done today!
Valve covers: I decided to forget about the white.. it wasn't going to work out and still look nice. So Ford Blue it is.
Same with the intake manifold, t/b and egr spacer, all ford blue now, and the combination looks pretty good IMO.

All comments/criticism appreciated.

Smog pump delete pulley difference

FLASH WAS ON, thats why the blue looks brighter..

Hahaha, well, I never though of it like that... but the only reason why we paint on the floor is because it needs to be redone. It looks pretty bad, one day me and my dad will redo it. Anyways, making a video right now. It's a before/after video so look for it within the next hour or 2!
