Giving her fox a transplant

Post by DarkNightV6 on Tue Jun 29, 2010 12:38 pm

I found an 88 turbocoupe engine for christina's foxbody. Anyone know how easy this is and/or wanna help with the swap. Gotta figure out how to go get it and where to store it for now.

It's pretty straight forward I believe, but i'd talk to the 2.3 guys for details: http://ford23.prophpbb.com/

Biggest issue is the transmission. The SVO came with a GT transmission.

Also be prepared to get your ass handed to you by her car after the swap. I have 2 friends who have done this swap, and I have helped them. No mods, other than the engine swap ran low 13's. There are a few pushing 500 with just turbo, wastegate, and BOV upgrades.

I will lend a hand if you go through with this.

I'm expecting it. The svo came with a t5 but it uses the same block just modded a little to accomidate a turbo kit so trans should bolt in nicely.

correct but you have a 4cly t5 not the t5 in the 5.0 models. Different trans all together.

Yea Alex, I'll bring my tools and help out. This will be a good reason to drink and learn something at the same time.

Also, look at upgrading the rear end! That motor WILL find the car's weak spots pretty quickly...
