Just finished a dry run. Wow! It's gonna be fun! You're really going to enjoy the windy roads around PrettyBoy. All the roads along the cruise are open and doesn't appear to be any construction or detours. The Grill in Jacksonville is open and will be prepared for us next weekend. See you all Saturday morning!

Re: MCOM Dam Cruise-2010, July 17, 2010
I will be monitoring the weather forecast between now & Saturday to determine the status of the cruise. There's a possibility that if the weather looks bad for Saturday, that I might use Sunday as a rain date. I will confirm if Sunday is available for me tonight and post an update. I will make a definite decision on Friday and post an update. So please stay tuned to this thread for more info.

Re: MCOM Dam Cruise-2010, July 17, 2010
Cruise Guidelines:
Here's a short list of some guidelines & tips for the cruise.
1. Please remember that this is a cruise, not a race. There is no award for finishing first. The roads we'll be driving are public roads that we'll be sharing with other drivers...NOT a racetrack.
2. We will be driving in a "spirited" manner which means we'll keep speeds within reason. In most cases, we'll keep speeds limited to 10-15mph above the speed limit. Some of the turns will be taken fast, but always within reason and under control.
3. Some of the roads will be very twisty and will require full concentration. Please pay full attention to the road ahead of you.
4. Radios and cameras are great for the cruise, but please let a passenger handle those duties if possible. Or refrain from using during the more twisty technical portions of road.
5. The bump on Long Green Pike will put your car in the air if you carry too much speed. Please be very careful there! Anything approximately 70mph or higher and you will be airborne. If your going 80mph or faster, your re-inacting the Dukes of Hazard. Dramatic for videos, but very damaging for your car and potentially a high risk of causing an accident. Please be smart at that point!
6. If you fall behind or get seperated from the group, do not panic. Everyone should have a copy of the cruise map and should follow the directions to catch back up with the group. The longest stretch of driving is just over 30-mins, so you'll meet up with the group at the next checkpoint.
7. Portions of the cruise take us through parks. Please be mindful of hikers, bikers, horse riders and others on the roads.
8. There's a good possibility of seeing wildlife such as deer. In fact, I saw two deer at different locations along the route during my dry run last weekend. Mustangs do not do well in a collision with deer...Take it from me, I know! Please keep your eyes open for wildlife along the roads.
9. Please do not try to pass other Mustangs along the 2-lane roads. If someone is going slow, you can get ahead of that car following the next checkpoint. Again, the longest driving stretch is just over 30-mins. Please be smart and patient.
10. Please do not pass the cruise leader, me, unless I wave you by.
11. I may slow down unexpectantly or pull off to the side of the road at times during the cruise. This is usually an attempt to keep the group together when traffic lights or other obstructions arise. Please stay alert and be patient at these times.
12. Have fun! Enjoy the drive, friends, and Mustangs! And be safe!
See you all Saturday!
