some thoughts...
So i was just recently thinking about the future.. lol..
I want to go LT's with the o/r H with my 5.0 but with the OBD1 testing I'm scared I will fail. I know a lot of people with foxbodys that dont have historic tags still go this way, but what do they do when it comes time for emissions..
sounds stupid but i was just wondering becuase i dont wanna save up all that money just to have to replace it all[url=http://www.mdpatriotstangs.com/javascript:emoticonp('

Re: some thoughts...
Dude, you can just set ur timing alittle high and get through with no problems. You practiacally have to be missing on a 2 cylnders to fail maryland.

Re: some thoughts...
plenty people passed with longtubes, even passed with an off road pipe! as long as they dont peek under your car. last time i went for emissions 3 years ago they looked under my car before i went on the rollers. if your cars running good than you should have no problem. i have longtubes and off road x pipe and im not emissions exempt yet. when the time comes again im gonna go for the "anti emissions stance" and put my catted h pipe on just in case. i dont want them driving my car on them rollers!

Re: some thoughts...
Sorry Aaron, that won't work. Md has done away w/ the rollers and are back to just a t-pipe test for pre OBD2 cars.

Re: some thoughts...
Just swap the offroad pipe for a catted pipe when emissions time comes..not that hard, especially with long tubes.

Re: some thoughts...
yeah that means i will need to get two h-pipes. I think I'm going to hopefully have the SLP 1 catback on my car by the end of the summer and then next summer hopefully headers and h-pipe

Re: some thoughts...
when are you due for emissions next? if its not anytime soon you can just get an off road pipe for now and get the catted later. that's what i have to do i dont have any cats yet but currently looking for a cat h or x pipe just for the emissions test

Re: some thoughts...
yeah, lol the hell with it!!
so with my setup now--- hooker shorty headers (old and rusted), bbk o/r h-pipe, stock catback with flowmasters welded in (looks like its all put together with bubble gum cause its such bad welding).... and i have the original h-pipe w/ cats in shed for emissions purposes...--- in any one's opinion should i aim for longtubes first or a new catback... this 5.0 is too too quiet

Re: some thoughts...
If youre low on cash and your headers are rusted and beat up go for the longtubes and h pipe first. when you get some extra money you can buy your catted midpipe for your emissions test next year or your catback. dont worry the longtubes will def wake up the exhaust note and it'll sound nice with the h pipe and flows. im actually switching back to that setup myself. hope you dont melt your starter with the longtubes

Re: some thoughts...
so i heard from a couple of buddies of mine that bbk headers suck and that the ceramic would only last a year or two. they said my money would be better spent getting a cam

Re: some thoughts...
i have BBK's chrome longtube headers for about 3 years now. wish i bought the ceramic coated instead but i have no complaints about them. As long as they dont leak and they dont. plus they fit perfect and dont hang too low under my car. I can even remove my bell housing without removing the headers. worry about a cam later when you decide on what upgraded cylinder heads, cam and intake combo you want.
