Adjustable Crank Gears

Post by TT_05_Stang on Fri Feb 26, 2010 11:20 am

So I havnt been on the mod forums much and have not heard any of the latest news.... While I was placing an order for the new valve springs I happened along these... Anyone heard any bad news about these adjustable crank gears??? Ive always installed my 4.6 cams straight up, but this time the degree wheel is coming out, and if its off... these will do the trick...

Yeah I talked to Trick Flow today, because they say its only supported up to 04. However The valve chan kit from 95 - 2010 on the 4.6 has not changed. Therefore I thought it would work.

Unfortunately the tech did not know, and he said the engineer had left for the day.

So... It came to mind why they do not support the 05+. This is most likely due to the VCT. The VCT would go haywire with these on. I do not have VCT turned on in my car. I have the Cams locked. Therefore acting like a 04 and older.

The last reason why I think they will work... is because MMR is selling them for the 05. They are the same.

Here is modularmustangracing.com

If MMR has them for the 05 why not just buy those since Summit doesnt know.

As you can see they look exactly the same. These are the Trick Flow pieces

Yeah talked to a few people over the weekend. They are the same gears as MMR. Forged steel, so they should handle way more than the stock powdered metal.

They are used in ALL SOHC mod engines. The reason for not supporting the 05+ is because of VCT. Trick Flow said they cant say they support the 05+ because someone would put them in with VCT enabled and blow their engine...

Mine show up this week... I will post my findings after I get the engine out, and ready to degree my cams.
