Yup what Kookdawg said.....I've only driven mine in the rain once, and that was not planned........so I'm no authority on winter driving with these things, but definitely head these guys words and keep the stockers for the winter.

Hey you might want to change out those IRS bolts before you put that tire on your car. I am assuming you are going with a 17x10.5. If so you will rub your tire and wheel without swapping the bolts.

Oh unless you are making plenty of power and your doing the wheel swap for more then just looks don't go with a wider rear tire. You will actually slow your car down due to more rotating mass. Just food for thought. But if it is just for looks go for it.

It's a really tough decision, wanted to bump up to 18's and go stagger for the looks and grip, but the weight issue has been lingering in the back of my mind. At this point, I don't plan on doing anything else than CAI and tune, and I do enjoy the lighter feeling. Will it bog it down that bad?

Thanks for all the pictures kooldawg6. the visuals help me out a lot.

That's true about the rims in winter too.. hmmm. I maybe predicting a double set in my future. Where did you get your FR500's? AM seems slightly on the higher end of the price point but I do know they are reliable.

I am soooo going to get chewed out by my dad.. he doesn't like me throwing money into my car, especially now after I wrecked it. He is so closed minded and doesn't understand why I love mustangs (I still board with my parents). That is another reason why I am a bit reluctant to get another set, plus I have to find a place to store them.
Yeah, he's probably wishing you would stop wasting money on your car and move the hell out already!!!

LOL, I do get that feeling.. I get the "save your money" phrase all the time

Well, I divorced a few years ago and moved back in with my folks. I was up in Wisconsin for some time. Since renting here is expensive and my parents have room, they let me stay. I don't think they have too much of a problem having me here, they just want me to "save up for the future", you know that kind of lecture. I don't have kids or any real bills to pay, so the new found income of not having to pay for living expenses, food, etc. has let me spend it on other things.. aka buying my mustang and now doing mods to it lol. My dad is just a bit anal and close minded. Anything he thinks is a waste of money, he pushes that mindset on everyone else, so I get a lot of flak for it. Also I think he is upset that I sold my Toyota that he bought me new 12 years ago as my high school graduation gift.. and after since my robbery incident back in Oct '09, he blames it on my car, so he has a lot of negatives against it. I was injured pretty bad as in the end he wanted to take my car but I wouldn't let him. He was unarmed, but my body is still pretty messed up from the trauma. Then to wreck my car a couple months after was a real heart breaker. Anyways, sorry to blab, guess that's my story lol.

It's cool. Glad you're getting back on your feet. I did the same thing years ago after I got divorced as well. And well uh, that was when I bought my stang too. It was only 2 years old back then but still wasn't near the price of new ones today.

Did you grow up in Sil Spg? If so, where'd you go to high school

Yeah, I did actually!! I went to Paint Branch HS. lol, my parents still live in the same house that I grew up in and I drive by PB everyday to and from work. We're moving across the border into Howard county though in the spring. Then I get to drive by my wipeout spot everyday lol. How about you?

What is the typical months when summer tires can be pulled out? I'm thinking March - Early November? I think someone mentioned, but I can't find it lol.

Re: Staggering tires

Laura and I got our wheels from cruizinconcepts.
It all depends on the weather as to when my wheels get swapped. I didn't change mine out this year until the day of the first snow. If there is a Stang related event and it's dry, I'll swap my nice wheels back on and then swap them back when I get home. I'd say March is a good time to switch, but as Bernie said, there could be a late season snow shower...
You're welcome for all the pics

But hell we have mustangs... I go through 3 sets of rears before I go through a set of fronts Smile

I have 305's and love em... but I went with a 29" tire to fill up the wheel wells

Hmm. You'd think that to go through rears, you'd actually have to run your 'Stang.....
