Your IRS has smaller half shafts (weaker). I am not sure about the other differences. But it is definetly weaker. You might be better off finding a decent solid for it. As long as it is a 99 to 04 it would be a straight swap. Another problem occurs when it comes to your motor, is that your weak link is your rods and pistons. The way SVT approached this with the 03 and 04 was to change over to a cast iron block, manley forged h beam rods, and zoliner forged pistons ( which is actually the weak link in the 03-04 motors). The heads on the 03 -04 cobra were different. Actually the mach1's shared the same heads. All of this was to help stand up to the 8 to 10psi that the eaton was going to feed into the motor. If you are really interested going the boasted route get on the svtperformance.com forums and goto the Mid atlantic cobra association section. Post a question on or about your goals and plans. There many members on there that know a great deal about your car and would be a great asset to you and your goals. Plus most if no are willing to help.

^Thanks man, you did a great job of explaining all that. I've been told that I would be ok up to about 425 rwhp or so on my engine, before I'd have to start messing with the internals. And yes, I am a member of SVTP and post sometimes in the MACA section. I don't have as much time to post on any forum really now, I used to do it a lot cuz I was at work and online 40 hours a week at least, but they took our internet away.

Anyhow, I'm really interested in learning more about it, SVTP seems to be full of knowledgeable people. I don't plan on a KB for at least a year or two though. I've almost been tempted to go turbo. The guy I bought it from has a performance shop in PA and he fabs up his own turbo kit. I'm not really interested in going SRA, I like the look of the tailpipes hanging down personally
