Got any install days in mind or planned for 2010?

Post by BlakJak87 on Wed Dec 23, 2009 10:31 pm

I'm 99% sold on the idea of a 1-piece driveshaft. The only thing holding me back right now is whether I should buy sooner rather than later and attempt the install myself or take it somewhere and have a pro do it. Option number F remains...if we were to have a group install day (before the April Cecil County dragway date), I could pay for MPSF assistance in the form of a case or two of high-quality, American-crafted beer. I'm trying to get into the 12's for 2010. Driveshaft, maybe slicks, and a little bit of practice, and I'm there. I'm already at 13.3 with stockers and some bad launching.

Is this already on anyone's radar? Either way, anyone interested?

I'm also thinking of doing the 1 piece, but paying Chris at Excessive to do the install.

The 1-piece driveshaft is also my next mod. Andrew, just keep in mind you also need and adjustable UCA with the new driveshaft. And while you are at it, you might as well get a driveshaft loop.

I also would be interested in an install day. Whether I would have my driveshaft or not, it would be fun to hang and help out.

On a side note********There is a group buy on s197forum.com for driveshafts from Powerhouse. Maybe you all should join the forum so we can get the group buy going HINT HINT!!! $550...........you can't beat that!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd love an install day when the weather warms.

I paid almost $700 for my AL driveshaft nearly 2 years ago

SN95 driveshafts don't fit the S197s. The newer model aftermarket vendors take you to the cleaners. I remember Zach (my son) got a FRPP driveshaft for his fox body at the same time I got mine, and $$ difference was painful!

I'm not lowered as much as you are, so i doubt that I need an adj UCA just for a driveshaft install. My pinion angle is not altered enough with my .75"-1" drop in the rear I don't think.

Shaftmasters for $500. I've heard it's a very high-quality piece, and that's the one I have my eye on. The 4" might cause problems for some of the lowered folks around here though. Safety loop is a must, I agree.

Andrew, it might be borderline. I have the Steeda sport springs, which dropped the rear 1.25", and I needed an adjustable UCA to properly set the pinion angle after putting in a one piece driveshaft.

What springs do you have installed?
