Supercharger choice

Post by Droptop306 on Tue Nov 24, 2009 11:11 am

As you all know it is Tax time again. Means funds for new projects. I wanted to get some feedback on supercharging my 08 GT. I was wondering everyones feelings as to what they have or what they have read good about the superchargers available for our cars. I am not looking to make the car a racing beast but something that has get up and go when punched. Please post your oppinions. My dad has a saleen Mustang and I love the feel of it. I was leaning towards sticking with a Saleen supercharger? Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated.

sounds like you want a roots type blower like a kenne bell or a ford racing whipple. check out muscle mustangs and fast fords october 2009 issue they have an article on all superchargers in the market you can browse through them and pick out what you may want

I have used Vortech on all of my other cars. I just cant get over the way it makes the engine bay look so crampy. I am attempting to deal with a guy now for a Saleen SC Kit does anyone know anything about them

I have been looking myself and have come down to 2 super chargers. Kenne Bell or the edlebrock. I could go on all day about them. But the bottom line for me is that both will give me the get up and go I want and they look good in the engine bay.

The saleen would be a good choice to. They are stealthy looking.

I'm pretty sure 05RedDevile aka Pink Penelope has the Saleen SC on his car. He'll prolly chime in with some info on it along with some nonsense!!!

I spoke with a guy at Carlisle that had the Edlebrock and he stated that the install was long and legnthy and he was still having issues. I have been looking into the Kenne Bel and just looking at the price right now.

Whatever you go with get it installed professionally. Don't try to do it yourself. You might think you're saving a few dollars but you'll pay twice what you saved in the long run. Everyone I know who've installed these kits themselves always have issues with belt slippage.

I would do the Roush TVS R2300. vmptuning.com has a kit for a stock block that is rated at 460rwhp (on 8-9psi) or so and with a built block and a pully change can go to 700rwhp. It is the supercharger they put on the Roush P51 special edition mustangs. Plus, I think the Roush TVS unit has a 1 or 2 year warrenty. If you are at all thinking turbo check out Powerhouse in PA. I have heard it is a good kit as well and they are not that far away to install and tune it for you.

I will look into the Roush. I just emailed JPC to get a full quote on the best supercharger that they recommend. I am waiting there reply and will post when I get it. I may be able to get that Saleen SC kit new for around 3300, the guy really needs the cash. There goes the credit card until tax time

Also, that blower will make power into the 800s, but I wouldn't push your stock internals past the mid 400s. Or, you could buy a built shortblock and let it eat.
