Lookin at some drag wheels

Post by KingMucha on Sat Nov 07, 2009 3:37 pm

i have the cobra conversion brakes in the back with some 1 inch wheel spacers. im looking to get some 15" wheels but i heard that those brakes require a 17" wheel. some say just in the front, some say you can make it fit the back with some grinding, and ive also heard about some 15" wheels designed to fit those brakes. im lookin at these. if anyone has any knowledge on how muxh back space would be sufficient or anything like suggestions, im open to anything.

15s will work in the back but you will have to do some grinding too the caliper. Or you could just shop around for some 16s which will fit.

Before anything make sure you get 3" studs if your using that much spacer.

That is still a hell of alot of spacer. Especially if you plan on putting drag wheels with DRs on them. Why are you using a spacer in the first place? Another dumn question or suggest haveing gt or cobra rear bakes does not make that much of a difference, so why not just go back with the GT rear brakes. For one Pads And Disks are a hell of alot cheaper and easier to get a hold of when you need them. A spacer normally means you have the wrong wheel backspacing.

I've heard decent feedback about grinding the brackets as well. Or just find some 16's.

Alright for the most part you are not going to be running Bi ply slicks. Not enough power to warrant them. So a good example. Right now I am running a pair of 17x9 drag wheels (DRAGS), with 275/40/17 M/T Street DRs.. And the are awsome. With this set up no grinding needed and it will cost about the same. Still why are you running 1 inch spacers I don't get it. I mean you really shoud not need a spacer. and if your doing for the way it looks that is plain dumb.

its for the wider wheel base
they smooth out the ride and handle turns better. and the look doesnt hurt i love the way they look. it does make a big difference in ride quality. i already have the slicks and these are for now and the future when im making a lot more power. i dont intend to keep the v6. im going with some greg welds and im gonna grind the calipers some. my intentions with the car are to make it a quick car that can handle turns and i like the security of the brakes which were a hell of a lot better then my stock brakes.
