Mufflers.

Post by 03silvergt on Tue Aug 18, 2009 5:59 pm

Is it possible that a muffler can be broken internally. I have an exhaust rattle but it does not rattle all the time. Only when I shift up or down. It doesn't rattle at idle or when I take off. I checked the exhaust and everything seems to be tight. Anyone have any suggestions?

The baffles do wear out in the mufflers and rattle. Definitely could be that.

Could be. My Flows got broken baffles back in early '07 on my '06 after about six months! It was a problem Flowmaster knew about and corrected and I got a free replacement set. I'm wondering if that is the case with my driver side MAC muffler now I've moved and tightened everything exhaust wise...even notched one of the metal hanger brackets! Next step is to put the stockers back on there and check...

Do baffles usually go bad after 1 year or could it just be a manufacture defect?

Could be either, but I would definitely lean towards defect if that new!

Hey John, neither one of them sound as good as those MAC's.

And I'm moving this thread to the tech section
