How should I prep for winter?

Post by 05RedDevil on Sun Aug 16, 2009 7:21 am

So my mustang is my only ride at this time and I have the feeling it will not be great in winter weather so I've been exploring my options. Some things I have come up with are: (1) New wheels and snow tires for the '05; (2) buy a stock-ish SN95; (3) buy an older F150; or (4) buy a 2010 Taurus SHO b/c of AWD.
Please let me know what you think would be the best option for me. If you have any other ideas then post 'em up but I'll tell you right now that I will only contemplate domestics.

Winters aren't usually that bad down here. I drove all winter with the OEM BFGs with not much problems, but then again, I don't have 400 + RWHP... They do have dedicated winter/snow tires in performance tire sizes. Get a set of OEM wheels and you'd do fine.

Mine is a daily driver as well. A set of good all season tires and you'll be fine. A few sand or cement bags in the trunk wont hurt either.

I will probably agree with Mike. Get an old F-150 and use it and you will also have a tow rig for the stang when you don't want to drive it to the track.

I agree, get an F150, cuz you also have to consider the roads of the house your in now. Although, with the BFG's both my stangs, did and still do good in all weather.

The F-150 would be the way to go. Get a nice 4x4 for tow and reliability. The sho, for show. It all boils down to what can you live with?

i drive mine year round and the weather weighs no impact on my paint or wheels. as long as you use the proper products to protect with they will be fine. pick up some collinite wax #845 and don't look back. that stuff is made to a level where it can be used on boats. i've used it in the past and it is the perfect winter wax!
