Post by Droptop306 on Wed May 13, 2009 12:54 pm

Anyone have any insight on how good these are? I got a chance for a set of stainless steel ones at a good price

Re: Bassani long tube headers

Alright, I have lowered the car and have heard several different stories. I am looking to install long tube headers and from what I am being told they will bottom out. I installed the john and I installed the Eibach Pro Kit on my car. I was told that I could install Kooks Mid legnth and eliminate that problem and lose no horsepower. However it seems that they cost more than the long tube headers. I just dont want to have to worry about busting them out of alignment. I have enough to worry about with the ground effects. This is the next install and would like to get this cleared up so that I can get started. Thanks for the information guys. This is by far the best forum for information and help

Give me a month or so and I will have my Kooks headers on. I am lowered as well so I will be able to give you some feedback.

If you do not mind me asking how much did you pay for your kooks? Also did you go with the catted h pipe and are they stainless or ceramic.

I got mine used and paid $900 for them and it included the high-flow catted x-pipe. They are stainless, but before I put them on I am getting them jet-hot coated.

Prepare to bottom out with any long tubes you buy. I am lowered and have long tubes and its a constant problem. Just getting out of my driveway I have to put boards down.

I don't think you will have any major problems, BJ. You already know to drive with care due to the ground effects and now being lowered, you'll be even more careful. I've scraped mine many times (slow crawls on speed bumps) and has never been hard enough to cause harmful damage.
They are on the car in my sig pic and being I removed all the original background and replaced it with a much lighter one, you can easily see the underside. They don't drastically hang down. I believe your rocker panels may sit lower than the headers will.

I haven't got a quote yet. I would like to try to install these myself if I have time(which is highly unlikely). I have ALOT of shyt to install before the racing season begins and time is against me. JJ at Woodbine Mototrsports is where I'll be taking mine. Is pretty reasonable and does things top notch.

Where is he located and do you have a contact number? I thought I was told that the car had to be tuned when installing long tube headers. I could be wrong and if this is something that I could do with some help I am all for it. It would save alot of money that is for sure. However a lift would really be nice to because I think everything is done from underside. Did you get new motor mounts yet and if so what brand and model number. Thanks

American Racing headers FTW! Top notch stuff!!

You don't have to get a tune for the headers, but is highly recommended to get full benefit from them. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong).

Here is JJs website. All the info you need should be on there.

I haven't gotten new motor mounts yet. I'll get back to you with what kind I get.

You are correct you do not need a tune for exaust upgades

American Racing was founded by the previous Partner of Kooks.

They are very simular design, and have top notch quality like Kooks.
