Love the good police officers, but this one has to go
Ryan Moates, corner for the Houstan Texans. while driving to the hospital late a few nights ago with his wife and other family members to be there for his mother in law, who was dying. He ran a red light, he did not blow through it, he had his hazards on, stopped, and rolled through carefully. a dallas police officer pulls him over, this is what happens

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzjg2EhNLY0&feature=related part 2
This police officer should be fired, sure he should not have run the light, but this cop had no common sense or decency, it was very clear what was going on, there was no mistake, this police officer does not possess the mental compacity to perfrom his duties.

being a police officer i find that display embarrassing. i could see if the traffic stop was no where near a hospital but the fact that its in the hospital's parking lot makes this horrible. you could always go with the driver (motes) into the hospital and confirm the story if for some reason you think the driver is lying. that officer must be hard pressed to look productive. now my thoughts are is he that aggressive when it comes to actual criminals?

This just fuels the fire of police hatred. I don't care or worry about what happens to other people I'm just worried myself. I would've pulled over when his lights went on. But the office's attitude is incredible. If not for a celebrity football player then for who? Imagine what would happen to the average person., it wouldn't be on YouTube. What about those 4 cops who were killed in Oakland last week? Its stuff like this that's the reason why the black people at the scene in Oakland were taunting the cops after their friends just got killed.

i agree, cops die in this country just about everyday and it goes unnoticed. and those guys taunting the police in oakland are the first to call when their daughter gets raped. i dont really care what the citizens of gorgeous prince george's think, i just care that my squad and myself get home at night. i still think that officer should of used better discression. and the chief should be standing by his officer, policy is policy no police officer is going to let the driver in a car they just pulled over run the show.

I will say this....bad judgement on the officers part. I don't know what the officer was thinking at the time of the incident but sometimes you need to step back and put your self in the citizens shoes. What if that was my mom? How would I act? Unless the car fit the discription of a crime like a Bank Robbery he should have escorted the driver in like pastang said. Making sure it is safe to do so of course..
That's just my take.

Update: http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=532190
Cliff Notes for Bernie: The statement from Officer Robert Powell was released through his attorneys and referred to his traffic stop last week of Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats.
"I wish to publicly and sincerely apologize to the Moats family, my colleagues in the Dallas Police Department, and to all those who have been rightfully angered by my actions on March 18, 2009. After stopping Mr. Moats' vehicle, I showed poor judgment and insensitivity to Mr. Moats and his family by my words and actions," Powell's statement reads.
