3/8/09 **NEW** DC Cruise the Monuments
**Sunday March 8th, meet at Bowie @ 11 AM**
OK , since the DC St Pat parade pushes our DC cruise off the 15th and GOTTC is near the end, I have rescheduled for Sunday March 8th, we can meet at Bowie, MD at 11am and depart no later than 1130am.
The cruise is approximately 40 miles long and drive time will be around 1 hour. Based on the majority we can look at stopping near the White House for a walk onto the Washington monument for pics of National Mall. Possible photo-op stop by Capitol. WH and Capitol stops depend on activities in area. We will stop at the Iwo Jima Mem for pics and possible walk onto Arlington Cem. We can also stop at the Air Force Mem and Pentagon for the 9-11 Mem. Pictures of Pentagon from high ground at the AFM should be nice.
With drive time and stops we can look at being done around 130-2pm, so I am up for suggestions for Lunch. We can look at stopping at the Marina suggested, would have to call and check if reservations are taken, check http://www.columbiaisland.com/index.htm for menu. We can look at crossing the Key Bridge, parking in a lot and checking out what Gtown has to offer, would have to deal with traffic a bit but should be able to get in a parking lot. Or, we can hope for GREAT weather and if someone has a Mustang friendly grill (size) we can find a park and have an early March grill out. Will add a poll up top for lunch ideas…….
Route –
Bowie, MD, meet at Lowes off RT50/RT3, drive in on RT50 to 201 Kenilworth/RT295, exit at Howard Rd, cross S. Capitol Bridge, take rt395S to Maine Ave exit, onto Independence Ave, 17th st to Constitution Ave, up and around Capitol, back onto Independence Ave, cross Mem Bridge, swing by Iwo Jima then to the AFM and last stop should be Pentagon.
Above Rt will get you views of JFK Stadium, Nationals Stadium, US Capitol, Jefferson Memorial, White House , Washington Mon, Tidal Basin, WW2 Mem, Lincoln Mem, Mem Bridge, Iwo Jima Mem, Arlington Cem, AFM and Pentagon.

wont be an issue, rt minimizes lights and even the ones we hit are straight through shots, so if there are a few that get caught, stay straight and we will be there, we'll bring the 2 ways and the tail car can update with any issues, if we go into Gtown it should be Key Bridge, M st to Wisconsin Ave, both are right turns and should put us into Gtown mall lot......

My work schedule changed. I am working 5 weeks as opposed to 4 which means I will miss February bowling but I'll be around for March driving madness.
