Re: cluthes
Racing, d/d, ?? What power is your car making and what are your intentions for it? That's a good place to start. I run a Centerforce DFX. it's a great drag clutch but a lil to aggressive for daily street driving. The C/F dual friction is a great choice for street/strip driving. Very lite pedal pressure as well.

Re: cluthes
Unless you're gonna race it, hp really won't factor much. That's why I asked what your intentions for the car are. If you're gonna mainly drive on the street and once in a while a trip to the track, the C/F dual friction is a great choice like I already mentioned. You'll get a lot of different opinions on this though I'm sure.

Re: cluthes
Bernie's right, it all depends on what you intend to do. I used my stock clutch for over a year at the track before it burned up, so you might just wait it out. If you go Spec, go with a Stage III+. The Centerforce Dual Friction clutch is a good choice, as is a RAM clutch. Consider a matching steel flywheel too...

Re: cluthes
As Bernie and John Pointed out the Centerforce is a nice piece. They had design issues when they came out for the s197 05+ style. They tried to use the 03-04 cobra pressure plate on our cars and had tons of issues. The main issue is that our cars use a hyd throw out bearing. However the slave cyl is small, and doesnt push much fluid. Therefore the throw of the TOB is very small. This makes high RPM shifts sometimes difficult. The new pieces from centerforce hae been better, especially the DFX. The Spec stage2 had the same design, and still has issues. I have never used a RAM clutch, however I am using an aftermarket TOB made by RAM, which I am not too impressed with. I have had it out 3 times, due to leaking.
Lastly, while there are clutch manufacturers that say you do not need to use shims with their product, I have found otherwise. on our cars since the throw of the TOB is soo small, it needs to be SPOT ON for it to enguage and dissenguage propperly at high RPM. Therefore you should get a shim kit and shim the stock TOB to work correctly with your aftermarket clutch.
So far I have only heard of one Low Pedal Pressure option, and that is made on the spec stage3. I have this clutch and it works great with my power. I shift in the 6900 RPM range, without issues.
Hope this helps...

Re: cluthes
Interesting remark about the StageII+. I'm on my second one, a replacement for the original obtained from Spec. It was a POS, would never disengage, and I argued for months before they finally sent me a new one (new production run maybe???). The second one they sent is smooth as silk and handled 5500 dumps at the track, and shifting at 6500. Still no problems. Of course, I recently noticed a leak at the front pinion seal on the rear end, and a look at the fluid is showing a nice shimmering, indicating the carrier and/or bearings are finally going. Time for a TruTrac! Haven't decided if I want to go up to 4.30s or not from my 4.10s, but if I have to open up the rear end to service the carrier it's something I should consider...

Re: cluthes
no not yet.i have till spring.shes just sittin in the garage lookin pretty till the salt washes away in march or april.that spec ll+ looks like it has what i want.havent had a chance to reserch the c/f yet.but another thing...what are the pros and cons to an alum or steel flyheel?besides weight. i would think a steel piece would be stronger.would the weight savings be worth the diffrence in durability?
