No reverse! :0 NOOOOO
OK i get in my car after a wrestling match and do to back out of my spot. I put it into reverse(stick shift) and get like a foot and then i hear a huge clank noise the car jumps and i now have no reverse. Every gear other than that works just dandy. Now when i try to put it into reverse it goes in fine but when i let the clutch out it just ticks like the pinion is sheared off or something. I don't know what it could be i'm no car genius so i don't have a clue but im DONE taking tit to Jones Junction. I'm gonna call my uncle tomorrow but i thought id ask yall too. Help!

Re: No reverse! :0 NOOOOO
So I believe its 5th and Reverse on the same shaft. If 5th works fine then you most likey sheared the teath off reverse gear. The usuall causes of this is a forward to reverse dump...
FYI it takes about 400-600 in labor to drop a tranny, and then about 400 just in labor to overhaul it. so around a grand for starters. Or you could pick one up from the junkyard for cheap and install it yourself.

Re: No reverse! :0 NOOOOO
Something to check. Does the stick bind anywhere when trying to pull it back into reverse? Does it feel like it pops out of gear or if you try and hold the stick in reverse, does it stay, or does it pop out?

Re: No reverse! :0 NOOOOO
it doesn't pop out it just stays there like it's in reverse but i can rev it and it's as if im in neutral. And now i need a new alternator AND there's something up with my engine. I'm in deep. I never go into reverse until i've completely stopped and i was already in reverse going backwards when it happened. My alternator stopped charging the battery on the way home from the green turtle and my car died on the side of 95. Had it towed. Bad end to a fun night.
Let's see what jones junction thinks. I had free tow to jones and i wasn't about to leave my baby on the side of 95. Anyway. Thing AIN'T workin out for me this week. :swear: I can't wait till i'm some rich girl's trophy husband.
