When you roll up on the line, you won't need the brake. The car will sit still. It is the most level part of the track.

Wrenched, the term means worked on cars.

What kinda tires are you gonna be running?

Reaction time, leave on the last yellow. Don't wait for the green.

Wrenched. Okay, yeah, I've wrenched before.

Tires. Pirelli Zero Nero. 'S okay?

Reaction. Yellow. Got it.

Am I in over my head here?

You won't need line lock w/ street tires. Traction will be an issue though especially w/ the cold temps.
In over your head? Nope. You'll have a blast!! No question. Takes a lil getting used to, but is a lot of fun.

I've wrenched your mom. Does that count? I've never heard that term! WTF does that even mean?

Anyway... So you're telling me that I don't need to line lock? What about reaction? I have a 5 speed. How do I hold the clutch, brake, and throttle all at the same time. I'm a female, so I obviously don't have the third leg...

Performance Mods on my car include: short throw shifter, CAI, tune, off-road x-pipe, and springs.

What I'm trying to do: Right now, she is my dd. But I plan to race in the future, so when I mod, I mod with that in mind. However, since she is my dd, and probably will be until paid off, I'd like to retain some street comfort. So essentially, a badass powerhouse on the street, with the occasional trip to the strip.

Bethel

You've "wrenched my mom"?!?! WTF? Bitch, fights on. You better be able to run faster than me...

FWIW, "wrenching" equals working on the car yourself. Sounds like your a hands on gal (god, I SO want to take that and run with it), so line locks shouldn't be too much trouble.

OK, with the S197s, the best N/A STREET mods you can get, bang for the buck in my opinion are: cold air kit and CUSTOM tune, underdrive pullies, charge motion control plates, moddest lowering kit (like Steeda's) 18" rims with performance rubber, 4.10 gears (you will LOVE them with that 5 speed), aluminum drive shaft, x- or h-pipe (I'm not a fan of the xpipe sound but you get a few more HP, and I like midpipes without cats) and aftermarket muffler (Magnaflows, etc), Hurst shifter, and maybe some aftermarket lower control arms. You'll better airflow in and out of the engine, the stance and cornering ability will be improved, you'll have a bad-ass sound, and probably a low 13 second car at the track with just a bit of practice.

John

Run faster? Hell, from the looks of it, I might be able to walk faster. Like I said, now that I know the terminology (!), I have "wrenched before. I've got a CAI, with a Sniper tune. I don't want to do pullies, because I plan on S/C and why waste the money. I've lowered with Eibach. I'd like to do rims with some Nitto but haven't quite found what I'm looking for yet. 4.10 you say? I hear that the most I want is 3.73 with a dd. Explain. Think the driveshaft is coming soon. Have an off-road x with stock muffs. B & M shifter. Looking into J & M LCAs, and and adjustable UCA.

I would def go w/ 4.10's. You have a 5 speed, the difference in gas mileage won't be noticeable.

As Bernie said, the mileage IS negligable, and the feel out of the hole impressive. I didn't realize you had all those mods--I'm serious, I AM impressed, especially if you've done some of that yourself. The J&Ms are fine (I happen to like BMR, but whatever) and the adjustable upper is important if you put that 1piece driveshaft in to help with adjusting pinion angle. And if you are going SC, then no, the underpullies are of no value.

Have you posted pics? Of the car I mean.

"Run faster? Hell, from the looks of it, I might be able to walk faster. "
Oh, how I laughed out loud on this one--thank you for that YOUNGSTER.
