UPD's

Post by Silver Lining on Wed Jun 11, 2008 10:07 pm

I received my upd's from Summit today ordered them Monday morning. Went to shop 4point6.com, got them for $99+10s/h, i thought not bad. I know the answer but I'll ask anyway just to confirm my thoughts. Once I install these pullies I will have to get some sort of tune on the car, can you guys tell me about the tune itself, will my Diablo h-h have what I need or will the h-h give me just enough till I can get to shop or should just take it to a shop and have them do it all? Thank you in advance!

Paul, as I understand it your tuner won't be able to do much since the pulley mod frees up parasitic drag, and doesn't directly affect fuel or air like a cold air intake or full exhaust swap would. Similar to getting a light weight driveshaft: you remove a little weight and rotational mass.

I think you're good as is! That being said, in the old days sometimes folks raised the idle up a bit to help with battery charging, but I think our modern cars don't need to worry about that. In fact, I lowered my idle a bit (to 620rpm) and haven't had any problem with the car, and I'm only driving it on weekends.

Ok heres the update to my original post: the udp's are installed , got tired of waiting for the extended warrenty to come to an end, and just to see what would happen I put a tune on the car too. It feels like I'm getting a little better throttle response out of it and this is just what came in the Diablo h-h, so far Im plzd.

05-08 upd's (Steeda)

Post by Droptop306 on Fri Aug 29, 2008 5:03 am

Alright guys got another toy for the 08. Are these hard to install. I bought a Steeda upd's? I am also installing the willwood 14" brake kit to the front and the 12" rear wilwood kit to the back. I am looking at purchasing a saleen stage 3 supercharger as well. To hell with the warranty cant wait 3 years.

Damn, I guess Pauls going to run away from me now, and I don't have the $4500 I would need for that X Charger I want. But he just wasted his money any way, why with all that weight he removed from the engine compartment with that cleaning, the car has to be faster as its got to be a couple hundred pounds lighter.

Oh ya, Shut up Mike, I know what your thinking.

Steeda upd's - Easy install, about an hour at most.

willwood 14" brake kit - Easy install, all around should take less than 2 hours - You will need at least an 9" wide rim up front, with a 40mm offset.

stage 3 supercharger - stage 3? do you have a built bottom end? Personally I would just buy a whipple and be done with it. The stock pulley will be enough if you havnt built your lower end. It will take 8 hours to do a supercharger install, and you will need either a boost a pump(bandaid) or get a GT-500 duel pump system.

How hard to install

Post by Droptop306 on Fri Nov 07, 2008 5:17 pm

I have a set of UPD made by Steeda for my 08 GT and was wondering how hard are they to install. Do I need any special tools? I have never messed with the new body styles and am a little scared to be honest. I have a pro 5.0 shifter that I would like to install as well. Can anyone advise how hard or how to do it.

UPD pullies - about an hour to do, need a balancer puller.

PRO 5.0 shifter is about another hour install I dropped the front of the driveshaft to make an easier install but not needed. regualr tools needed.
