You don't have drag radials? It sounds like several members will be trying their hand on the track, so I'll bring a second set of '05 Bullitt wheels with Mickey Thompson 275/40-17s mounted. They are very stable at the top end and hook like mad (I had consistent 1.6 60 foots 8 times in a row the last track day). That should help get some personal bests that day...
Yeah I have DR's but I have the Nitto 555r's... 305/45/18's... not as sticky as the MT's you have. On the street, If I heat them up, 1st and 2nd is a throttle feather fest. However now with the DR's I can lay into 3rd all the way...
I have a lot to finish before this event...
1. rip the engine out, check it over, rebuild if needed
2. wire up an external kill switch, since I have the battery in the trunk
3. My BMR LCA's, have broken yet another set up bushings, going to buy Metco LCA's and UCA
4. Somehow figure out the roll cage issue...
5. a lot of little things that I need to complete.

What tire pressure do you run your MT's at John???
I was thinking of starting around 17-20 range and work from there...

Oh crap. It occurs to me that I might need a line lock for this race! Where can I find one, and is it hard to install?

I always start high and work my way down, looking for the highest pressure I can hook with--the more pressure the less rolling resistance. So 18lbs, two runs, then work down until it hooks hard. With the MTs I've never gone below 15s, although Zach (my son) lowered them to 13, hooked REAL hard, and bent the right lower control arm clean. I also have adjustable drag shocks--usually I can set them midway and just adjust the tire pressure, but some days and conditions mean lots fiddling around.
Given your setup and HP, I'd actually start with a lower setting, say 15s. Do you have a stock rear end? What about the front sway bar, is it still on the car? I'm thinking the weight transfer and all that HP...

I installed a TruTrack about 6 months ago. Still have front sway bar.
I am thinking I might trailor the car to the event... I am thinking I am going to break something... Just a gut feeling...

Line locks are fairly easy if you've "wrenched before". Two good ones for the S197: one from PMP, which requires solenoids from Jegs, and SLP which I believe are complete with solenoids. In a nutshell you pull one brake line and replace it with two pieces and a solenoid in the middle. Run two wires and bleed the brakes.
Here's an example from a vendor: http://www.lastcallracing.com/slp-m25002.html. I'm sure there are cheaper places like Summit Racing...
I don't know what mods are on your car, but for nearly $200, there may be other things that will improve your cars performance that aren't so track specific. Line locks are a drag racing specific mod that usually comes after you're truly hooked on drag racing and want to steadily improve performance by reducing influence of variables that can affect times. What are you looking for? An all around street machine with occasional trips to the track. Or maybe a heavy duty performance machine, and street comfort be damned. Just my thoughts...let us know what you're trying to do.

LOL!!! Welcome to my fear each and every day at the track!!! I've been looking at used 5.4l F-150s two vehicle lately, but the low gas prices have those turkeys holding firm on prices, so I'm holding off a bit.
FWIW, I'm putting in a truetrac soon--during a recent pinion seal replacement there was a bit more metal in the fluid than made me comfortable. I'm debating 4.30s since I'll have the damn thing open but that's starting to compromise streetability.
Other than a new intake manifold (Feb release!), I hope to have my Steeda race cowl hood like yours painted and installed, but the l'm not sure I'll have the bucks yet.
If your car is ready by GOOTC, if you can come early they usually let everybody run as much as you want until they need to start setting us up by class. We can get try different things to get all that power to the ground.
Let me know who's doing your cage. Once this car hits 11.50 I'll need one...
John

I've wrenched your mom. Does that count?
I've never heard that term! WTF does that even mean?Anyway... So you're telling me that I don't need to line lock? What about reaction? I have a 5 speed. How do I hold the clutch, brake, and throttle all at the same time. I'm a female, so I obviously don't have the third leg...
Performance Mods on my car include: short throw shifter, CAI, tune, off-road x-pipe, and springs.
What I'm trying to do: Right now, she is my dd. But I plan to race in the future, so when I mod, I mod with that in mind. However, since she is my dd, and probably will be until paid off, I'd like to retain some street comfort. So essentially, a badass powerhouse on the street, with the occasional trip to the strip.
