Ploblem with 5.0
A friend of mine has one and needs to have torque boxs welded and was wondering if any body knew a good place and said that he is also having problem with overheating when sitting idle it doesnt happen but when he drives it gets hot
Re: Ploblem with 5.0
Does he just want to have the boxes welded or add the reinforcement kit? As for the over heating, could be a fan, clogged radiator or t-stat issue. Def a circulation/blockage problem.

There's a shop in Eldersburg (Carroll County, MD) called "On the Ground Performance" that has done chassis work for us and some friends.
For overheating, a cheap check is to replace the thermostat ($8-$20)...in thinking of that, do you know if he's using a stock thermostat or has gone to a colder one? As I recall the stock is a 190*, but most folks move to a 180*.

If the boxes are not torn, the standard bolt in kits work well.
I welded my bolt in kit for re-assurance.
What does his cooling system consist of?
what type of water pump is he using?
What type of fan? Clutch style, or electric?
Did he install a new thermastat lately?
Lots of questions to get an answer

Re: Ploblem with 5.0
he said there is a little tear but can still drive it he think might be fan because its new motor

If they are torn the rear end will move around a lot, will feel like a broken bushing in a LCA.
Best thing to do is weld the tear and then install the reinforcements.
