im not gonna knock the 302. its a hella good all around engine but IMO very far from the top of the "best engine ever" list.

depends on what is the criteria but the chevy 350 has been one heck of a work horse that has proved it's ability to produce power and reliability time and time again and has graced the fenders of numerous differnt vehicles until the recent switch to emissions friendly epa standards motors king

I would have to say any of the dodge big blocks or the 454 gm power plants.. they last much longer than almost any fomoco engine.. have ready availability of parts and are race and industry proven.. the ase 302 is a good engine as a base builder of light duty workhorse, just as the 318, and the 305/307 in American iron, but when it comes to the best motor of all time you gotta give it to anything from VW... the Germans have the best engines on the planet hands down!!!
